This Saturday night, party with the founders of Paper Planes and Belong Wine Co., two family wine companies with complementary stories and wines.
Belong Wine Co. launched in 2017 with one ton of fruit and an enormous dream shared by husband-and-wife team Bertus and Alli van Zyl. They’ve set their sights on the mountainous coast and the foothills of the Sierras, specializing on Mourvèdre.
Paper Planes, founded by Laura and Kyle Gabriel, took off in 2014. They focus on Pinot Noir in red and rosé variations, sourced from the Sonoma Coast and beyond. Both families produce low-intervention, lip-smacking wines, made right here in Napa Valley.
Join Laura, Kyle, Alli, and Bertus this Saturday night. Drink all six wines, meet the folks, and relax as a loooooong harvest comes to an end!

Wachau to Vienna – Austria World Tour
Compline’s World Tour series kicks off again—with a visit to Austria and a new twist!
Take a tour down the Danube River from Wachau to Vienna with Compline Wine Shop’s team—Matt, Peter, and Dane—and finish with a walk to the restaurant as Chef Jammir serves Austria’s most classic dish in a Heuriger-style experience.
We’ll explore five wines from the Wachau, Kamptal, Kremstal and Wagram in a seated class at the Wine Shop, followed by Wiener Schnitzel and Wiener Gemischter Satz—a true Vienna food and wine experience—at the restaurant!
Northern Austria’s most important white wines, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, will be on full display. Learn all about Northern Austria’s wine styles, and end with a classic Austrian meal. Prost!

Guided Wine Flight with Philippe Pacalet at Compline Wine Shop
Philippe Pacalet is a winemaker in Burgundy. (With the occasional foray into Beaujolais and beyond.)
He is the nephew of famed Beaujolais vigneron Marcel Lapierre and a former student of Jules Chauvet, the “father” of natural winemaking in France.
Philippe doesn’t own a single parcel of vines. Despite this, he’s become a star producer of elegantly framed wines and a leading figure of the natural wine movement worldwide. Jamie Goode calls him a “master of èlevage.” Prior to founding Maison Philippe Pacalet, he made the wines of Domaine Prieuré Roch from 1991-1999.
Join Philippe at Compline Wine Shop for a seated, guided flight of four wines and an animated discussion on modern Burgundy and the meaning of natural wine.

Orixe Sotelo Release Party at Compline Wine Shop
Jackie & Gustavo Sotelo, the proprietors of Orixe Sotelo, are great people and cool winemakers. Orixe is a Galician word meaning: “beginning, source, birth, origin.” At Compline, we’ve loved their idea since its inception: to reimagine what California wines would look like if this was still a place called Alta California, and Spanish varieties reigned.
