The legendary Howell Mountain Estate, purchased by Randy and Lori Dunn in 1978, produces some of the most collectible, age-worthy, and important wines in Napa Valley. Today, a new generation of Dunns runs the winery, including Mike Dunn, who manages the overall operation and makes the wine. Mike has been involved with his family’s winery since 1999. He works 43 acres of Cabernet vineyards, ranging from 1,800-2,100 feet above sea level on the higher slopes of Howell Mountain.
Compline Wine Shop has procured an 18-wine vertical set of Dunn’s flagship estate Cabernet, ranging from 1991 to 2008—wines made by Randy and by his son Mike.
Join Mike Dunn and Assistant Winemaker Ted Kizor for an exclusive, guided tasting of the 1991-2008 vintages at Compline Wine Shop on Wednesday, August 9 from 6-8pm.
This event is strictly limited to 16 guests.
The ticket price includes a tasting pour of all 18 wines and light snacks for the table.

Emidio Pepe – Guided Flight with Chiara de Iulis Pepe
Matt first met Chiara de Iulis Pepe back in 2012, when he visited the legendary Emidio Pepe estate in Abruzzo’s Teramo Hills.

Emidio Pepe proved to the world that Montepulciano, Italy’s second-most planted red grape, could be considered world-class. He believes his wines, made without sulfur, each bottle hand-decanted by his wife before release, are among the best in Italy. Antonio Galloni’s Vinous deems Pepe’s wines “history in a bottle.”

Music in the Vineyards is delighted to introduce the recipients of our annual String Quartet Fellowship Program, The Lirios Quartet. Composed of violinists Benjamin Goldstein and Maggie Brady, violist Yuri Santos and cellist Chas Barnard, the Lirios Quartet was newly formed in August 2022 and is currently the Graduate Quartet in residence at The University of Colorado-Boulder where they study under the world renowned Takács Quartet.

Where’s Waldo?
This July Copperfield’s Books and Napa Bookmine will be collaborating to host our annual “Where’s Waldo” scavenger hunt event in downtown Napa.
Participants are invited to pick up stamp cards at Copperfield’s or the Napa Bookmine to begin the hunt for Waldo, who will be hiding in twenty-five participating downtown businesses.
Collecting twenty or more stamps in the month of July will enter participants into a grand-prize drawing taking place on August 4th, with a party being hosted by the Napa Bookmine.
